Artemus "Konachee" Tanyan, lifelong Seminole resident, passed into eternal life on July 24, 2016 at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 73. He was born April 21, 1943 in Talihina, Oklahoma. Mr. Tanyan is fondly remembered by his family as a man who loved Christ and was firm in his convictions. He loved to play hymns on his guitar. He liked to fish, collect old cars, and watch Clint Eastwood movies. He also loved tomato gravy, flat bread, red beans and coffee. He was a retired road crew worker for the Seminole Nation. Artemus is survived by three sons; Daniel Tanyan and his wife Sharona, Adam Tanyan and his wife Brooke and Leo Moppin, Jr.; five daughters Sherry Hernandez, Ariellia Harjo and her husband Alex, Laura Hill and her husband Afton, Lucretia Moppin and Jamien Canard; one brother, Earnest Tanyan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ernestine Hobia of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Christine King of New York; twenty-six grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Clara Belle Tiger on October 12, 2007. Wake services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Messiah’s Temple in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Danny Faulkner will officiate at the service.
