Armetta “ Rusty” Jones, 78, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident died Friday, May 13, 2016 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 17, 1937 in Ada, Oklahoma to Jack Jones and May (Burgess) Jones. Armetta moved back to Seminole 8 years ago from Del City, Oklahoma. She retired from Dana Corp where she worked as a machinist for over 15 years, after her retirement she became a truck driver for Trans States Lines and retired in 2000. She attended Carter Seminary School and later Chillocco Agricultural School, in Ponca City, Oklahoma and was in the class of 1957. Armetta was a member of Indian Bowling League for many years, played basketball and softball on Indian leagues, and was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. Armetta is survived by two sons Jerry Wheeler and his wife Dorothy of Prague, Oklahoma, Paul Wheeler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three daughters, Rhonda Wheeler of Seminole, Oklahoma, Sharon Floyd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Patricia Cheney of British Columbia, two sisters Jeanese (Jones) Factor and Maryetta Franks both of Wewoka, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister Arnette Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Seminole Baptist Church east of Konawa, Oklahoma, with Rick Deer officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Wake services will be held at the Seminole Baptist Church on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be Tracy York, Osceola York, Robin Tiger, J.P. Wheeler, Brandon Wolf, and Justin Wheeler. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
