Archie Yeager

Archie Melvin Yeager, 92, lifelong Seminole County resident, died Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Archie was born August 30, 1925 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to Loren C. Yeager and Allie Jeffreys Yeager. Archie was a self-employed carpenter in the Wewoka, Oklahoma for many years. While living in Wewoka, he was a member of the Wewoka Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He also was active in the Wewoka Roundup Club (The Light Horsemen) for many years. After moving to Seminole he became a member of the Seminole Church of Christ where he was a devoted and much loved member. Archie served his country in the United States Army during World War II, he served in General Pattons’, 3rd Army and fought in the “Battle of the Bulge”, he was a Private First Class in Company D 328th Infantry, and received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon with 4 bronze stars. He was discharged on January 29, 1946. Archie was a generous loving person, who loved being with his family, watching his grandchildren grow up and play ball. Archie was a hard worker, loved to go to auctions, buy, sell and trade with people. He was a collector and loved to deal with people. Archie married Maxine Davis Yeager on June 30, 1951 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Archie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Maxine Yeager of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters Maureen Richardson and Jan Davidson of Seminole, Oklahoma, his brother Ratis “Ray” Yeager and his wife Dorothy of Greenbrier, Arkansas, his sister Margaret Noah of Sterling, Colorado, three grandchildren, Zac Richardson, Ashley Noey and Kaylie Davidson, five great grandchildren Noah Elijah, and Lydia Reece, Emma and Ethan Noey. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Seminole Church of Christ at 12040 Hwy 99 North, Seminole, Oklahoma. Kevin Hardeman and Arpoika Daniels will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery with Military honors, provided by the U.S. Army. Casket bearers will be John Rains, Kenny Brewer, Zac Richardson, Elijah Reece, Noah Reece and Tom Morton. Honorary bearers will be Mike Yeager, Bill Davidson and Vic Richardson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
