Anthony Tanyan

Anthony Tanyan, 58, died, Monday, March 26, 2012, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Anthony was born October 16, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Grace Coody Tanyan. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. Bill Hobia officiating. There will be a wake service 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Interment will follow at Tanyan Cemetery, northeast of Seminole, Oklahoma. Anthony graduated from Varnum High School in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Tallahassee Church in Seminole, Oklahoma and also a member of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma. He is the grandson of Wesley and Susie Ross Tanyan and Phenie (Alexander) and Bob Coody. His father, mother, his daughter, Maria Grace, sister Carolyn Tanyan Talamasey, and half-brothers, Chris Tanyan and George Jones precede him in death. He is survived by Teresa Larney, sons, Jacob, Sterling and Skyland Tanyan all of Konawa, Oklahoma, daughter Valerie Tanyan of Konawa, Oklahoma and a step-daughter Amanda Larney of Konawa. Brothers Curtis Lee Tanyan Harjo and Ronald Tanyan of Muskogee, Oklahoma; half-brothers Jimmy Lee Harjo, Clifton Tanyan, Leroy Mitchell, and Larry Deer all of Seminole, Oklahoma, 2 step-brothers, Simon Harjo and Albert Tiger, both of Seminole, Oklahoma  two sisters Ruby Tanyan and Dorothy Davis both of Seminole, Oklahoma, and twelve grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive him. Casket bearers will be Kyle Porter, Larry Harjo, Jr., Tyler Harjo, Dakota Harjo, Garrett Meeley, Dominic, Stevie Creek and Brian Harjo. Honorary bearers will be Ron Tanyan, Tom Harjo, Thomas Billie Jr. and Tim Larney. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and visitations to Anthony (Chebon). We are sad at this time because we miss Chebon, but we know he is with our Creator and we are thankful for the time he was given to us. Mvto.
