Annie Lee Johnson departed this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, peacefully into the arms of the Lord. She was born in Elwood, Oklahoma on January 6, 1921. She was one of nine children born to Nick and Norah (Davis) Johnson. Annie received her early education and was baptized in the community of Elwood, Oklahoma. She married James Hardwick on November 2, 1940 and to this union one son was born, Frenchie L. Hardwick.
Annie worked at Louie Cohn Clothing Store in Wewoka and later retired after twenty-six years of faithful service from Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. Annie worked on the Drug and Alcohol Units where she loved and cared for her patients. They loved to hear her sing and affectionately called her “Singing Annie”.
She united with the Highway Church of God in Christ and later First Baptist Church, Lima and her journey ended with the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Wewoka. She loved attending church, singing and always had a word to give on God’s behalf.
She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Son Frenchie, two sisters and six brothers. Annie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Carolyn Narcomey Jones of the home, 6 granddaughters, 1 grandson, and a host of great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Viewing will be on Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
THE FAMILY IS REQUESTING MASKS BE WORN BY THOSE ATTENDING THE FUNERAL.
