Annie Jennings

August 30, 1906 — January 25, 2015

Annie Loise Jobe Jennings August 30, 1906 – January 25, 2015 Longtime Seminole resident Loise Jennings passed away Sunday at the age of 108. She lived through two world wars, 18 presidencies, the Great Depression, and the Oklahoma Dust Bowl. Graveside services will be in Duncan, Oklahoma for family members and friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.. The oldest of four brothers and one sister, Loise was born August 30, 1906 near Joshua, Texas to Frances Emmaline (Knotts) Jobe and Early Virgil Jobe. She was graduated from Joshua High School and later moved to Comanche, Oklahoma with her family. Loise played the piano in the Comanche church her father founded when she was 16. Loise married her high school sweetheart Robert Jennings in 1926 and moved to the rough-and-tumble Seminole County oilfields. Loise and Bob raised four daughters: Billye, Pat, Frances and Carole. Seminole remained her home for nearly 90 years. She used ingenuity and economy as she skillfully managed a household, raised a family, tended a large vegetable garden and cultivated beautiful flowers. She was an excellent cook. Her hands were never idle, crocheting beautiful afghans, producing exquisite cut-work embroidery and creating entire wardrobes for her daughters. It was not unusual for Loise to sew all night to provide a new dress for one of her daughters to wear the next day. She renewed her Oklahoma driver’s license at age 99. The examiner noted he had never passed a driver of her age. Loise was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1972, daughters, Frances and Billye in 2014. Surviving family  includes daughters, Pat (Leon) Short of Seminole, Ok.; Carole (Eldon) White of Lake Jackson, Tx.; son-in-law, James “Pinky” Coates of Shawnee, Ok.; son-in-law, Jim Uppendahl of Stillwater, Ok.; brother Earl (Sara) Jobe of Poteau, Ok.; sister-in-law, Betty Jobe of Tulsa, Ok.; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and her adopted son, Adnan (Reyne) Tarhoni.
