Annette Green Miller

Annette Green Miller, 86, longtime Sasakwa, Oklahoma resident, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Ada, Oklahoma. Annette was born on July 22, 1930 in Stratford, Oklahoma to William H. Green and Mary Agnes (Bouska) Green. Throughout her life, Mrs. Miller worked as a librarian and established both a children's library and medical library at several military bases  She later worked as an executive medical secretary at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.  She served as President of the Lackland AFB Secretaries Association until her retirement. She loved reading, cooking and entertaining, gardening, and served her community through her church and the Sasakwa Women's Club.  She exuded elegance and charm and was creative and talented with her hands, especially when it came to gardening and entertaining.  She also has written a book that has yet to be published.  She was an active volunteer and faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Konawa, OK. She was beloved and adored by her children and grandchildren and had a remarkable life, despite her father dying on her second birthday and her mother’s hardship as a single parent while growing up during the Great Depression.  After 50 years of marriage, she longed to join her husband, Fred in Heaven. She was married to Fred Henry Miller, Jr. who preceded her in death on July 8, 2002. She is survived by her three sons: Richard Miller and his wife Laura of Stonewall, Oklahoma, Michael Miller of Iowa City, Iowa, and Fred H. Miller, III of Sasakwa, Oklahoma, and  four daughters: Marianne Miller of Seattle, Washington, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and her husband Curt of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mariette Stanson and her husband Don, of Abilene, Texas, Mari-Eleanor Miller Martino and her husband Ralph of Westport, Connecticut, and, one sister Alyce’ (Green) Scott of Shawnee, Oklahoma; surviving  grandchildren:  Marie Laymance, Alexander Goggin, Patrick Geffon, Shauna Geffon, Johanna Geffon, Jennifer Miller, Eli Miller, Jonathon Miller-Meeks, Taylor Miller-Meeks, Dana Stanson, Daniel Stanson, Drew Stanson Clark, Fred Miller IV, Matthew Miller, Joseph Martino, Matthew Martino, Andrew Martino; great grandchildren, Gabriel Laymance, Amelia Laymance, Ellie Stanson, and Lilly Stanson. She was preceded in death by  her parents, her husband, one daughter Mari D’Anne Geffon, two grandsons Christopher Miller and Sean Goggin, and four brothers: Johnny Green, Joseph Green, Billy Green, David Green, and two sisters: Katherine Kuestersteffen and Marie Veitenheimer. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, west of Konawa, Oklahoma, with Father Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. officiating. A Wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Richard Miller, Michael Miller, Fred Miller, Jonathon Miller-Meeks, Daniel Stanson, Tony Kuestersteffen, Leo Kuestersteffen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eli Miller, Patrick Geffon, Curt Meeks, Don Stanson, Ralph Martino , Max Geffon, Gary Veitenheimer. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in memory of Annette Miller c/o Father Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B.. at 47943 Abbey Road, Konawa, Oklahoma 74849.
