Anna Rushing

Anna Mae (Detrick) Rushing, 66 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, November 1, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born March 24, 1943 in Meeker, Oklahoma to parents Jesse Elmer Detrick and Melvina (Abney) Detrick. Anna attended Tecumseh High School and later married Robert “Bob” Rushing on March 25, 1960 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.  She worked as a sales clerk at the “Silk Purse” in Seminole for a number of years and then at “Park’s Drug” before her retirement in 1998.  Anna was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Seminole. Anna loved people and loved to talk.  She never met a stranger; she always had a caring and giving personality. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Robert M. “Bob” Rushing, Sr. of the home; one son, Robert M. “Bobby” Rushing, Jr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Bill Robinson of Searcy, Arkansas and Kim and Brian “Huff” Harper of Yukon, Oklahoma; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Martin of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Sherry and her husband Tommy Campbell of Earlsboro, Oklahoma and Charlotte and Stanley Stevens of Saint Louis, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Josh Williamson, Cory Williamson, Courtney Harper, Whitney Harper, Kale Harper, Brecken Rushing and Keelee Rushing; as well as a host of other family and dear friends. Anna is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, J.D. Detrick; and by one sister, Jeanie Detrick. Anna loved her husband, children and grandchildren with all of her being and she will be greatly missed. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.  Dr. Donald Rominger, Jr. will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Josh Williamson, Cory Williamson, Kale Harper, Brecken Rushing, Stanley Stevens and Tommy Campbell.
