Anna Marie Higdon

Anna Marie (Hollingshead) Higdon, 81 year old longtime Seminole County, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Anderson, Missouri.  She was born September 4, 1935 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Elizabeth Ann (Fisher) Hollingshead and Frank John Hollingshead. On July 12, 1953 Anna Marie Hollingshead married Billy Joe Higdon in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Marie traveled with Bill to many places through the years.  Her husband Bill was in the U.S. Air Force serving as a Master Sergeant for 20 years.  He was also an educator and coach.  Marie would usually work at the school cafeteria of whatever school her husband was employed with.  She had worked at Seminole State College student union, at Calvin Public School’s cafeteria and at Maud Public School’s cafeteria. Marie was also a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge #2516 where she enjoyed being a “Lady Elk.” Marie is survived by two sons, Don Higdon of Bentonville, Arkansas, Tom Higdon and his wife Karen of Anderson, Missouri; one daughter, Mona Reeves and her husband Mark of Konawa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles Hollingshead of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Bill Hollingshead and his wife Jan of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Morse and her husband Frank of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Ann (Fisher) Hollingshead and Frank John Hollingshead, husband of 63 years, Billy Joe “Bill” Higdon who died May 11, 2016, by one infant son, Curtis Higdon, and by two brothers, Johnny Hollingshead and George Hollingshead. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.
