Seminole resident Andrew “Andy” Alexander passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 88, after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 12, 1921 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to Toney and Ellen Foster (Tiger) Alexander. Andy was a retired maintenance technician at Central State Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma where he retired after 21 years of public service in 1983. He was also a retired member of the Oklahoma National Guard and was honorably discharged February 28, 1981 at the rank of Master Sergeant. He leaves to cherish his memories four sons; Raymond Alexander of Sturgeon, Missouri, Marvin Alexander of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Paul and Ann Alexander of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and David Alexander of Hartsville, Tennessee, one daughter, Bonnie Gibson of Mounds, Oklahoma. He is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; Toney Alexander and Ellen Foster (Tiger) Alexander. Pallbearers will be: Chris Hays, Jimmy Gibson II., Paul Alexander Jr., Gary Tilkens, Taz Alexander and Jason Alexander. Honorary Bearers will be: Sam Proctor, Clarence Tiger, Simon Harry, Newman Littlebear, Simon Larney and Joe Jackson. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday November 20, 2009 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donnie Wolf officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Family Cemetery, Seminole County, Oklahoma. A wake service is scheduled from 6:30 ~ 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel. He will be taken to the home on Thursday, November 19, 2009 for an evening wake service.
