Amye L. Dickerson, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 8, 2016 at home surrounded by family members and compassionate care givers. Amye was born March 19, 1924 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Glenn and Alice Akins of Mounds, Oklahoma. Amye grew up on a farm in Mounds, Oklahoma along with a younger brother, Lew Roy and sister, Anna Dell (both deceased). Amye took care of her younger siblings while her mother and father worked in the fields to raise crops and tended to the cattle. When Amye finished high school, she attended and graduated from Draughon's School of Business in Tulsa, Oklahoma to become an administrative assistant. After World War II, June 22, 1946, she married Harold Dickerson and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2016. They worked together in her husband's appliance service business with Amye doing all the bookwork for over 50 years. She made it a point to get all the information necessary for Harold to diagnose the problem so he would have the right part on the first trip to make the repair. In addition she served as the St. Louis Water Board's treasurer for several years. Amye enjoyed being active in the Methodist church in St. Louis, Oklahoma where she was a resident for over 65 years. She and her husband became a part of the Old Santa Fe Riders in Shawnee and the Indian Nation Covair Club of Central Oklahoma where they enjoyed traveling and visiting with other motorcycle and Covair car enthusiasts. She was a Worthy Matron in Eastern Star at Lexington, Oklahoma and continued to be a member at the time of her passing. As a homemaker, she raised two children, Harold Blaine Dickerson, deceased, and Deborah Thompson of Edmond, OK. While Amye had many hobbies she pursued around the home, her pride and joy was definitely her granddaughter, Lynnsey, who affectionately called her "MiMi". Amye is survived by her husband, Harold L. Dickerson, daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Thompson and Randy Thompson, and granddaughter Lynnsey Thompson, all of Edmond Oklahoma.
