Alta Levon (Menser) Lunsford, age 80 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Ballard’s Nursing Home in Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10th at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Rev. Mona Fulks will officiate, and burial will follow at Dora Cemetery, north of Konawa. Pallbearers are Leo Lane, Darrell Stinett, Dale Radford, Melvin Mullins, Jeff Spencer, Frank Shirley, Tony Lowry, Bob Sanders and Bob Rounsaville. The grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Alta was born on April 21, 1932 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to E. J. Menser and Ruth Nell (Burton) Menser. She was the owner and operator of the Philler-Upper Restaurant in Konawa for forty years. Alta loved working puzzles, reading, gardening, and cooking. She also loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Steven and Tammy Lunsford of Ada, Oklahoma, Ron and Glenda Lunsford of Konawa, and Paul Jeffrey of Ada; one daughter, Patricia and Dewey Cravens of Blanchard, Oklahoma; three sisters, Wanda Peek of Stroud Oklahoma, Tootsie Hudson also of Stroud, and Neva Hughes of Garr Corner; six grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
