Alpha Iona Marshall, 89, Moore, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Alpha was born March 1, 1930 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Wesley Manning Houck and Maggie Victoria (Jarrett) Houck. Alpha grew up in the New Lima, Oklahoma area east of Seminole and graduated from New Lima High School in 1948. Alpha worked as a clerk in the infant department at Wal-Mart in Moore, Oklahoma and worked up until a month ago. During her working career, she had worked as a nurse’s aide, cashier, Blue Bell (now Wrangler), picked peaches , cotton and dug potatoes and she had always been a hard working person. She loved fishing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and was very fond of her cat “Kora”. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and in later years joined the Church of Christ of Latter Day saints in Moore, Oklahoma. Alpha married John Godfrey Marshall on June 5, 1949 in Seminole, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1999. Alpha is survived by her two sons; Thomas B. Marshall of Moore, Oklahoma and J.W. Marshall of Guthrie, Oklahoma and one daughter Emma Marshall of Moore, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, a brother and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Wendell Bouchen officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be David Marshall, Jacob Wasson, John Marshall, Gabriel Marshall, Danny Castle and Russell Castle.
