Agness Bernice (Edwards) Brown, age 86 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at First United Methodist Church located at 301 W. First in Konawa, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate. Casket bearers are Tim Coffey, Marty Coffey, Jeffery Coffey, Stacey Coffey, Justin Coffey, and Andrew Coffey. Honorary casket bearers are Pete Woods, Bill Edwards, Jackie Gaines, Steven Gaines, and Sean Harrison. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Agness was born August 4, 1930 in Porter, Oklahoma to William “Alva” Edwards and Iva Belle (Spence) Edwards, and she married Elberge Brown on March 2, 1946 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She worked as a Dietician for New Horizons Nursing Home in Konawa, and she also worked as a cook for Barns Elementary in Midwest City. Agness was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Konawa. She will always be remembered for the loving care she showed in tending her garden and for her love of picking up pecans from her trees. She is survived by two daughters, Bernice Coffey and husband, Emmitt of Konawa, and Ruth Aboussie of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Bill Edwards and wife, Eva Nell of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Nancy Woods and husband, Pete of Purcell, Oklahoma, and Pat Whitehead and husband, Erol of Fairhope, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Tim Coffey, Marty Coffey, Jeffery Coffey, Stacey Coffey, Justin Coffey, Jackie Gaines, Steven Gaines, and Buffy Harrison; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Iva Belle Edwards; husband, Elberge Brown on August 9, 2016; one daughter, Glinda Hogue; one brother, Charles Edwards; and four sisters, Opal Brewer, Alma Neal, Eva Mae Patterson, and Wanda Moore.
