Seminole resident Mary Lee Crenshaw, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at 10:32 am, at the age of 77 in her home in Seminole.

Mary, the daughter of Tony and Pearl (Hardin) Curry, was born December 21, 1943, in Seminole.  She graduated from Seminole High School with the class of 1961. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma, and completed her master’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.   On July 22, 1979, RB Bruce, her true joy, was born.  Mary married the love of her life Fred Crenshaw, on June 23, 1990 in Seminole, OK. She was an educator at heart, starting her career in Oklahoma City, continuing in Baytown, Texas, before returning to Seminole in 1987, where she stayed until her retirement in 2005.

Mary dedicated her life to children, whether that meant the students in her class at the school, at the church, the campfire girls or the boy scouts. Her passion was investing in not only her son, but in the many kids that she came in contact with over the course of her career and long after. She was a proud and active member of the Seminole United Methodist Church, but nothing was more important to Mary than her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Billie Ann Minihan; brother-in-law, Loyd Nease; nephew, Thomas Michael Minihan; an uncle, Bert Hardin; aunts, Anna Evans, and Verba Krasowski; and a cousin, Ed Hardin.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; son, RB Bruce of Austin TX, and Kevin and Lorie Crenshaw, TX; sisters, Norma June Nease of Oklahoma City, and Toni Lynn Lee and Gary, of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Mike and Jane Crenshaw; two grandchildren Brian and Lori Crenshaw and Torie Crenshaw;  three nieces, Amy Starcher of Oklahoma City, Stephanie Jackson of Lacey, WA, and Stacy Ezell of Edmond; nephew, Robert Curry of New Canaan, CT; and several great nephews and nieces, Brady Starcher, Krixsan Hinton, Erin Hill of Oklahoma City; Ben, Hannah and Caleb Jackson of Lacey, WA; Colton and Brooklyn Ezell of Edmond, OK; and one great great nephew,Zephyr Hinton of Oklahoma City;  and two great grand children, Carter Crenshaw and Crosby  Crenshaw; many other cousins and friends.

Services will be Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 10:00 AM, at the First United Methodist Church, in Seminole, with Pastor Lamarla Cook officiating, and Betsy Stewart-Dooley assisting. Interment to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

After the grave-side service there will be lunch and a time to share memories back at the First United Methodist church. All that would like to share or listen to stories about Mary are invited.
