Billy Don Scott

October 18, 1957 — January 13, 2021

Billy Don Scott, longtime Seminole resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  He was born on October 18, 1957 in Taft, CA, to Bill James and Shirley Ann (Reese) Scott.

Billy grew up in Bakersfield, California and moved to Oklahoma in 1979, spending the rest of his life residing in Seminole.  Billy married Connie Dodgen on January 10, 1981, in Bowlegs, OK.  He loved his kids and grandbabies fiercely.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was able.  Billy absolutely LOVED hugs!  He always had a smile for everyone he met and never met a stranger.  Billy served as firefighter Assistant Chief of Bowlegs Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years.  He spent the majority of his life as a long-haul truck driver until he went to work for Seminole Public Schools and served as Transportation Director until he retired in September 2019. Billy enjoyed woodworking, school buses, “Dad jokes”, football and bowling.    He was a member of Bass Club of Seminole as well as a bowling team.

Billy is survived by his parents, Bill and Shirley Scott; son, Billy Swisher of Seminole, OK; three daughters and spouses, Brandy and Dallas Martin of Seminole, OK, Stephanie and Tim Earles of Bowlegs and Nicki Swisher of Rolla, MO; sister and spouse, Karan and Gregg O’Dor of Seminole, OK; 11 grandchildren, Michael Swisher, Marissia Swisher, Noah Swisher, Samantha Bannon, Brandon Earles, Christopher Earles, Becky Earles, Gavin Martin, Blake Martin and Summer Swisher; two great grandchildren and one on the way, Charolette Elaine Bannon and Ariessa Gail Earles and many other family and friends.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Scott and grandson, Evan Scott.

Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
